Mildred L. Basco, 96, of Clarksville, Iowa died Saturday, June 10, 2017 at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Iowa. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Waverly, Iowa. A private burial will be at the Eldora City Cemetery in Eldora, Iowa. Arrangements were made with the Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora, Iowa.

Mildred Lucille Hess, daughter of Robert and Gladys Newell Hess was born February 25, 1921 in Melrose Township near Ivester, Iowa. Milldred attended Nursing School in Clinton, Iowa graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1945. She worked in Iowa, Louisiana, Texas and other states as a nurse. She has been a member of the L.D.S. Church since 1956. Mildred loved doing activities such as artex painting, leather belts, and purses. She also enjoyed gardening at the Clarksville Nursing Home until she was unable to do it anymore.

Survivors include her daughters, Gladys Knox of Crouse, NC; Minerva Schaller of Kansas City, MO; Nancy Basco of Columbia, MO; sons, Loren Basco of Colorado Springs, CO; Harold Basco of Jacksonville, FL; stepson, W.L. Basco of Mora, LA; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Huisman of Missouri; and brother, Lawrence Hess of Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Doris Snyder, Isabelle Venenga, Audrey Gillet; brother, Clarence Hess, two sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and step-daughter, Agnes Lola Basco.

Memorials may be given to the Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Iowa where she received such great care and had resided for many years.
