Dale A. "Duke" McIntyre, 80, of Reinbeck, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Iowa, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2016 at the French-Hand Funeral Home in Reinbeck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in rural Reinbeck. Burial will follow at the Reinbeck Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Reinbeck American Legion Action Post # 242. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Dale was born on March 12, 1936 at the family home in Morrison, Iowa, to his parents Alfred "Jack" and Daisy (McCurdy) McIntyre. He was raised in Morrison, Iowa and graduated from Reinbeck High School with the class of 1955. Dale worked at the Waterloo John Deere Tractor Works until his retirement in December of 1988. He served his country in the United States Army from 1958 until 1960. He was stationed both stateside and in Germany. Dale was united in marriage to Mary Weigel on December 16, 1959 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Hampton, Iowa; together they welcomed three children into their family.

Dale was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Lincoln, Iowa AMVETS. Dale loved the outdoors, he especially enjoyed hunting, fishing and tending his garden. He also enjoyed riding snowmobiles with his family. Dale's true joy in life came from spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-granddaughters.

Dale is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary; his children Denise (Chris) Coulter, Cathy (Allan "Chip") Wical and Steven McIntyre; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-granddaughters and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers and 6 sisters.
