Miss Marie Murphy Passes Away

On Monday at noon death cast a shadow of gloom on the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Murphy, of Grant township, when the cold hand of death proclaimed the end of the life of their youthful daughter, Marie.

That truth which we known so well is again brought forcibly to our minds that even youth cannot resist death. Her sickness extended over a period of many months, the same she bore with heroic fortitude, thinking that she could stay the unwelcome visitor. Although not yet twenty years old, she was looked upon as a model of her sex combining with her youth those christian qualities which make one dear to companions.

As a teacher she made herself dear to pupils and parents alike. In the guidance of children she displayed wisdom equaled only by those of more mature years. Her death has removed from her home one whose place can scarcely be filled.

The funeral services were conducted at St. Patrick's church, Grant township, by Rev. Father Hogan, Wednesday morning, a train of sorrowing friends following the remains to the resting place. A loving father and gentle mother, two sisters and five brothers, as well as a host of relatives remain to mourn her loss.
