Died, at the home of Howard Hasbrouck of this city, on Friday morning, Aug. 25, 1899, at three o'clock, little Martha Hodge, aged six weeks and three days. The little one was a daughter of George Hodge and Gertrude Hodge, deceased. Being without a mother, she was taken into the home of Howard Hasbrouck as one of theirs, but was there only a short time when she was taken sick. Human hands did all they could for the sweet child, but the death angel called her to go to her mother. Funeral services were held at the house by Rev. C. M. Garner of the Brethren church, his text being Job 1:21, "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken; blessed be the name of the Lord."
