Our citizens were sadly shocked last Sunday morning to learn that Mrs. J. C. Barker was dying. However, she rallied and appeared to be improving until about seven o'clock when the tolling church bell sent forth the sorrowful news that she had passed to the great beyond from whence no traveler returns. Mrs. Barker had been sick for several weeks but no one thought of her being dangerous until the day of her death. She leaves a husband, five sons and one brother to mourn her death. Funeral services were held in the M.E. church Tuesday and were conducted by Rev. Trimble assisted by Rev. Stapleton. The Ladies' Aid Society, of which deceased was a member, attended in a body, as did also the Odd Fellows of this place. The floral offerings were fine and the attendance was large. The remains were interred in the Reinbeck cemetery. Mr. Barker and family and Mr. John Harrison, the only brother, have the sympathy of the entire community.
