Journal: Thomas L. Titus was born in Chester county, Pennsylvania, September 25, 1814. At an early age he moved to Morrow county, Ohio. In the year 1842 he was united in marriage to Sarah Cooper. In the year 1853 he came to Whiteside county, Illinois, where he lived until the year, 1868, when he removed to Grundy county, Iowa. In the year 1877 he was called, with six children, to mourn the loss of a companion and mother. In the year 1879 he was again married to Mrs. Jane Carty with whom he removed to Wright county, Iowa. In the year 1896 he was again called, with a family of two children, to mourn her loss. Since April, 1896, he has made his home with his daughter, Mrs. C. W. Wood, in Conrad, where he departed this life, October 27, 1898, being 84 years, 1 month and 1 day old, fully prepared to enter upon that inheritance which is incorruptible, undefiled and fadeth not away. A short funeral service was conducted at the home on Saturday, by Rev. C. W. Cleveland, and the remains were laid to rest in the Alice cemetery.
