Obituary

Josephene Bogart was born in Scott county, Iowa, May 5, 1856, and died at her home in Grant township, Grundy county, Iowa, Oct. 27, 1898.

She was married to S. B. Elliott, Jan. 1, 1875. There were born to them eight children, two boys and six girls. Seven of them are at home, the oldest daughter being married. Besides these she leaves a husband, mother, three brothers and five sisters to mourn the loss of a loving and tender mother, a true devoted wife, and a faithful and obedient daughter and sister. Mrs. Elliott was not a society woman. Her life was devoted to her family and her greatest pleasure was in serving them. She was a devoted christian and was always interested in church work. She was one of the few mothers who thought that the spiritual welfare of her children was paramount to everything else.

The funeral was held at the home Sunday, Oct. 30, Rev. Logsden of Beaman, preaching the sermon, assisted by Rev. Withey of Morrison. The remains were laid to rest in the Grundy Center cemetery. There was a large crowd at the funeral including friends from Reinbeck, New Hartford, Parkersburg, Grundy Center and Dairyville besides two sisters of Mr. Elliott, Mrs. R. T. Miller of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Wm. Ganfield of Iowa Falls. The bereaved family have the sympathy of all who know them.
