Minnie Bertram, 91

Minnie Bertram, 91, of Grundy Center formerly of rural Cedar Falls died Friday, September 3, 1999, at the Grundy County Hospital Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center of heart failure.

Minnie was born December 12, 1907, the daughter of Elso and Minnie Toben Doddema near Parkersburg in Butler County. Minnie grew up in the Parkersburg, Dike, and Lincoln Center area. She attended Lincoln Center Country School. She was united in marriage to August Bertram on March 25, 1932, in Stout. They lived most of their married life in rural Grundy County near Cedar Falls where they farmed together. He preceded her in death in 1985. Minnie had been a resident of the Long Term Care Unit for the last 1 1/2 years.

She is survived by five children, Richard and his wife Yvonne of Holland, Robert and his wife Della of Janesville, Minnie Marble of Union, Ruth Barrow and her husband Earl of Waterloo, and Raymond of Waterloo; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Minnie was preceded in death by her husband, August; three brothers, Pete, Elso, and Tammo Doddema; one sister, Ellie Doddema; and two step-brothers, John and George Rand; one son-in-law, Ernest Marble; and one daughter-in-law, Sandra Bertram.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 7, at the American Lutheran Church in Grundy Center. Burial followed in Hillcrest Cemetery in rural Cedar Falls. A memorial fund has been established. Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center was in charge of the arrangements.
