Vernon Snittjer Dies In Jap Prison
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Snittjer of Cedar Falls received official notice Saturday of the death of their son, Tech. 5th Gr. Vernon C. Snittjer, June 6, 1942, in Cabanatuan prison camp in the Philippines. He was 28 years old and joined the regular army before Pearl Harbor. Vernon was with the army air corps.

H. J. Snittjer's Receive Word of Son's Death
Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Snittjer of Cedar Falls, former residents of this community, recently received word from the War Department of the death of their son, Tech. Fifth Grade Vernon C. Snittjer. Death was due to dysentry in the Cabanatuan prison camp in the Philippines on June 6, 1942. Vernon had joined the regular army before Pearl Harbor. He was 28 years old at the time of his death.
