Bennett Franken, 81, of Washburn, formerly of Aplington, passed away on October 17, 2015 at the Waverly Health Center. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the First Reformed Church in Aplington with burial in the Christian Reformed Cemetery rural Ackley. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley.

Bennett Franken was born on March 4, 1934 in rural Parkersburg to Charles and Sena Franken. He attended rural schools and then served in the Army from 1953-1955. On August 1, 1957, he was united in marriage to Mary Wilma DeBoer. Bennett farmed all his life and worked part-time at Asgrow Seed Company near Parkersburg. He was a member of the Ackley Christian Reformed Church until the death of his wife Mary in August 2002. He later married Sandra Rottinghaus Kipp and lived near Gilbertville.

He is survived by two daughters Debra (Brent) Fisher of Aplington and Darla (Mark) Williford of Beaumont Texas, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, six sisters Fanny (Donald), Irene (William), Janice (Donald), June (Jerry), Mary (RaDean) and Elizabeth (Tom), five brothers-in-law John (Dessie), James (Karen), Michael (Patty), Steven (Karen) and Gerald and one sister-in-law Cheryl (Robert).

He was preceded in death by parents, brother Paul, and two wives Mary and Sandra.
