Arvilla Gerloff, age 91, of New Hartford, Iowa, was born the daughter of Anton and Anna (Olthoff) Venenga on January 4, 1926, on a farm in Colfax Township in Grundy County. Arvilla attended Colfax #4 Rural School in Wellsburg.

On December 10, 1941, Arvilla was united in marriage with Henry Christ Gerloff in Princeton, Missouri. They made their home in Buck Grove, Iowa, before moving to their farm in rural New Hartford. Arvilla worked 12 years at Lawn City Nursing Home in Cedar Falls, and 14 years at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. After her retirement from Sartori Memorial Hospital, Arvilla enjoyed working at Little House Café in New Hartford.

Arvilla was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Women’s Circle #1 and was a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in New Hartford. Arvilla greatly enjoyed her last few years at New Aldaya Lifescapes. She enjoyed doing volunteer work, taking bus trips and playing bingo in New Hartford. Arvilla loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Arvilla died Saturday, April 8, 2017, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, of natural causes. Arvilla is preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Henry on May 23, 2004; three grandsons, Leslie Gerloff, Travis Harting and Sam Gerloff; her parents; two brothers, Harvey and Bernie Venenga; and two sisters, Helen Davis and Margie Jurchen.

Arvilla is survived by three sons, LeeRoy (Mary) Gerloff, Henry Lee (Janice) Gerloff and Dennis (Bonnie) Gerloff all of New Hartford; one daughter, Kay Harting of Cedar Falls; 9 grandchildren, Greg (Wendy) Gerloff, Perry (Denise) Gerloff, Brian (Leigh Anne) Gerloff, Brent Gerloff, Suzanne (Kirk) Neuroth, April (Matt) Kressley, Guy Gerloff, Tessa (Justin) Matherly, Tony (Jillian) Harting, and Taylor (Hillary Menken) Harting; 16 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at the Bethel Lutheran Church, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg and one hour before services at the church.
