John K. Kruse Dies Monday At Cedar Falls

John K. Kruse, who spent all but eight years of his life in Grundy county, died at Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls at three o'clock Tuesday morning. He had been in failing health most of the past year and was taken to the hospital eight days before his death. He was 58 years old.

Funeral services will be Friday. There will be a short service at the home in Cedar Falls at 12:30, and at 2 o'clock there will be a service in Bethany Presbyterian church in Grundy Center with Rev. F. J. Langenberg in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the cemetery adjoining the Colfax Presbyterian church.

Mr. Kruse was born on a farm in Colfax township. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Kruse. Of the ten children that came to this family, only four are now living.

On Aug. 24, 1911, John K. Kruse and Miss Tillie Dieken were married. They resided 27 years on a farm two miles southeast of Grundy Center. Eight years ago they left here and for two years lived on a small acreage near Waterloo. Six years ago they moved to Cedar Falls.

Surviving are the wife, two sons and three daughters. The sons are Virgil, who lives in Engelwood, Calif., and Melvin, who was in the armed service but who returned home two months ago. The daughters are Bertha, who lives in California, and Phyllis and Vera, Cedar Falls. There are two surviving brothers, Rev. A. C. Kruse from Steamboat Rock, and Henry from Colfax township. His two sisters are Mrs. John J. Abels and Mrs. D. H. Dieken, Grundy Center.
