Obituary

Poppe Meents, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Meents, was born in Colfax township, Grundy county, Iowa, Jan. 9, 1892, and died at his home in Colfax township August 9, 1908, at the age of 16 years and 7 months. The cause of his sickness and death was a cancer on the shoulder, for which an operation was performed at Iowa City on Jan. 14th, which did not prove to be successful. All that medical skill and loving relatives and friends could do was done to save his life, but all without avail. He leaves to mourn his early death his parents, one brother and a sister, Mrs. Barney Kuger, and a host of friends.

The funeral services were held at the Drake church Wednesday afternoon by Rev. Drake.

Interment took place at the German Presbyterian church cemetery Wednesday, August 12th.
