Services Held Wednesday For Dena Stickfort

Mrs. Dena Stickfort of Reinbeck passed away at 6:57 a.m. Sunday, August 11, at the Beverly Manor Convalescent Center in Grundy Center. She had entered Beverly Manor on Friday, August 9.

Funeral services were held at the First United Presbyterian Church, Reinbeck, on Wednesday, August 14, at 10:30 a.m. Pastor William T. Branham officiated.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frahm sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." They were accompanied by Mrs. Neil Freitag, who also played selected numbers for the prelude and postlude.

The casket bearers were Lee Roy Stickfort, Jack Stickfort, Harold Everts, John Q. Adams, John DeLange, John E. Kruger and Wallace Adams.

Ushers were Neil Freitag and Harry Cooley. Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cannon and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Miller were in charge of the floral arrangements.

The committal service was held immediately following the funeral service. Relatives and friends were invited to remain at the church for a period of Christian fellowship and refreshments.

Interment was in the Holland Cemetery, Holland.

Mrs. Stickfort was born October 14, 1900, in Osterwald, Netherlands, the daughter of John and Alice Vos Grimmius. She came to America when she was 11 or 12 years old.

On January 14, 1924, at Holland, she was united in marriage to Emil Stickfort. They lived all their married life in Holland. Her husband passed away on September 28, 1964. Shortly thereafter in 1964, she moved to Reinbeck and made her home with her daughter and son-in-law.

She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Reinbeck.

She attained the age of 84 years, nine months and 27 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two infant sons, one grandson, Douglas Hinders, one brother and three sisters.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Alice and Marvin Hinders of Reinbeck; three grandchildren, Mrs. Dennis (Sandra) Jacobson, Curtis and Alan Hinders; and by two great-grandsons, Adam and Michael Jacobson.

A memorial fund has been established.

The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, was in charge of the arrangements.
