Rites Monday for William Itzen, 81, Longtime Resident

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the home and later at the St. Paul's Lutheran church in Wellsburg for William J. Itzen, 81, who passed away at his home in Holland Friday morning about 12:30 a.m. Death was attributed to complications of old age. His health had been poorly the last few years. Burial was in the Holland cemetery.

William Itzen was born in Ilsum, Germany, on March 12, 1874, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm Itzen. He came to this country at a young age with his parents and they settled on a farm 3 miles southwest of Holland. He was married March 13, 1902, to Christine Smit of Holland. The couple started housekeeping on his father's farm, where they continued to live until 1929 when they moved into Holland. Mrs. Itzen died Oct. 10, 1933.

Three children were born to this union, two sons and one daughter, Mrs. Rudolf Voss, of Grundy Center; Harm, Holland; and Henry, Grundy Center.

Surviving are the three children and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and one brother, John.
