Rites Held Saturday For Harm Saathoff
Harm Saathoff, of Stout, passed away last Wednesday, Feb. 14, at Sartori hospital in Cedar Falls from pneumonia complications, at the age of 69 years, 10 months, 11 days. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Pleasant Valley Reformed church with burial in the church cemetery.
The Engelkes Funeral Home at Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.
Harm Saathoff was born the son of Garret and Alma Saathoff at Simonsvolde, Ostfriesland, Germany, on April 3, 1898.
On Sept. 2, 1921, he was united in marriage with Harmka Westerman Beitelmann.
He came to Grundy county, Ia., with his family in August of 1923, where he farmed in Fairfield township until 1958 when he retired and moved to Stout, Iowa.
He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church.
Mr. Saathoff is survived by his widow; a son, Peter, of Cedar Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Alma) Hyde of Tripoli, and Mrs. Willard Hartman of Aplington; two step-sons, Tole Beitelman of Parkersburg and Jasper Beitleman of Clarksville; 16 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, - sisters, and an infant son.
