Rites Held For Andrew Kruger
Andrew H. Kruger, of Aplington, died of natural causes at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo on Thursday, April 3. He had reached the age of 87 years, 4 months and 18 days.
Funeral services were 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 7, at the Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington, with Rev. Scott Summers and Rev. Carl Geerhart officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Parkersburg.
Pallbearers were Dennis Kruger, Gerald Kruger, Roger Kruger, Rolland Kruger, Delmar Kruger and Delroy Kruger.
Andrew was born the son of Gosinus and Katherine Meester Kruger on November 16, 1909, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County. Andrew received his education near his home in Grundy County.
On December 14, 1932, Andrew was united in marriage with Dena Krull in the parsonage of Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Parkersburg. After they married, Andrew and Dena lived and farmed in Grundy and Butler counties. Most of the years they farmed near Bristow. Dena died on December 22, 1978. In October of 1979, Andrew moved to his present home in Aplington.
Andrew was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Aplington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dena Kruger; an infant daughter; his parents; 3 brothers, Jake, Henry and George Kruger; and 1 sister, Trena Freeseman.
Andrew is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Mrs. Merlyn) Muller of Aplington; 1 brother, Dick Kruger of Grundy Center; 3 grandchildren and spouses, Nancy and Kelly Elliott of Tucson, Arizona, Randy and Jodie Muller of Cedar Falls and Cindy Mehmen of Aplington; 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of the arrangements.
