Mrs. Delia Wickers Dies Tuesday

Mrs. Delia Wickers died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Hasbrouck, in Grundy Center. She suffered a stroke at her home in Grundy Center a few weeks ago. She was taken to the Grundy hospital for a short time and then to the home of her daughter. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be at the Engelkes Funeral Home in Grundy Center at one o'clock Friday and at 1:30 at the Bethany Presbyterian church. Rev. F. J. Langenberg will officiate at the service. Burial will be in the family lot adjoining the Reformed church in Pleasant Valley township, two miles west of Fern.

Mrs. Wickers was born in Ogle county, Ill., Oct. 25, 1874. She came to Grundy county with her parents at an early age. The parents located on a Grundy county farm. On October 24, 1897, she and Wiggert Wickers were married. The couple resided on a Beaver township farm where their children grew up. The husband died in December 1921. Mrs. Wickers continued to make her home on the farm a number of years after her husband's death after which she purchased a home in Grundy Center and moved here.

There are four surviving children. They are Ben, Parkersburg; Ella Wickers, Cedar Falls; Anna, Mrs. James Hasbrouck, Grundy Center; and Henry, of Waterloo. There are four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Other surviving members of her family are two sisters, Mrs. Will Meester and Mrs. Heiko Miller, both of Pleasant Valley township.
