Ubbie G. DeVries, the son of Ubbie DeVries and Mrs. Wilma Buss DeVries, was born Dec. 19, 1881, at Pilsum, East Friesland, Germany.
In the year 1907 he came to America, and on March 15 of that same year was united in marriage to the late Nellie Janssen at Baltimore, Maryland.
Throughout the years he was a faithful and highly respected father to eight children. Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. DeVries came to Grundy County, Iowa, where they were engaged in farming until 1948 at which time they moved to their home in Parkersburg where he resided at the time of his passing.
