Thursday Services For George Kruger
George Kruger of Grundy Center, Iowa, passed away of cancer at his home on Monday, August 19, 1996, having attained the age of 79 years, 10 months, and 28 days.
Born September 22, 1916, in Pleasant Valley Township, Grundy County, Iowa, George was the son of Gosinus and Anna Katharina (Meester) Kruger. He received his schooling in rural Pleasant Valley Township. On October 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Grace Muller of rural Parkersburg at Salem Lutheran Church by the Reverend William Paulsen. George and Grace farmed in Pleasant Valley and Beaver Townships for many years. They retired in 1984, and made their home in Grundy Center.
George was a life-long member of the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland. He enjoyed his family and grandchildren, who were dear to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his only daughter, Janola Jill at age 18, in 1978; two sisters, Dena Kruger and Trena Freeseman; and two brothers, Henry and Jake Kruger.
Survivors include his wife, Grace; four sons, Rodger Kruger and wife, Marlene, of Cedar Falls, Roland Kruger and wife, Gloria, of Grundy Center, Delmar Kruger of rural Parkersburg, and Delroy Kruger and wife, Diana, of Grundy Center; seven grandchildren, Dean, Ronda, Staci, Steven, Derek, Jared, and Stefanie Kruger; and two brothers, Andrew Kruger of Aplington, and Dick Kruger of Grundy Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 22, 1996, at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church in rural Holland, Iowa, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastors John Frey and Paul C. Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and at the church one hour prior to services.
Pallbearers will be Daryl Geiken, Donavon Geiken, Arlen Kromming, Mengel Kruger, Tony Muller, and Jason Schlamp.
A memorial fund has been established. The Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home, Grundy Center, Iowa, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
