Services Held Monday For Henry VanHauen

Henry G. VanHauen, 59, of Holland died Friday evening at 8 p.m. at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo of complications following surgery which was performed on Monday.

Funeral services were held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church west of Fern with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Gerald Osland officiated.

Pallbearers were Curtis Meester, Ken VanHauen, Keith VanHauen, Harlan Pruin, LuVerne Pruin and Delbert VanHauen.

Henry was born Sept. 5, 1909, the son of Harm and Pearl VanHauen, in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy county, where he attended rural school. He married Trena Meester Nov. 18, 1930 in the Pleasant Valley Reformed Church and they farmed for 25 years near Wellsburg, Buck Grove and Fern.

For 11 years Henry was in the trucking business in northern Grundy county. For the past 3 years he has been employed by the Farmers Co-op Elevator in Grundy Center and they have lived in Holland.

Mr. VanHauen is survived by his widow; three daughters, Ivadean (Mrs. Charles Freese), Holland, Arlene, at home and Beverly (Mrs. Mervin Stensland), Grundy Center; 1 son, Leland, at home; also two grandsons, Terry and Steven Freese.

He is also survived by three sisters, Jennie (Mrs. Dude Syhlman), Grundy Center, Tillie (Mrs. Herman Pruis), Shell Rock, Gladys (Mrs. Geo. Meyer), Cedar Falls; and two brothers, Jake of Holland and Herman of Wellsburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant son.
