Janet Snittjer Rites Are Held

Janet Williams Snittjer of Steamboat Rock passed away Friday, April 17 at the Presbyterian Home in Ackley.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, April 20, 1981, at the First Baptist Church in Steamboat Rock with Rev. Dennis Dewey and Rev. Bruce Baillie officiating. Mrs. Lee Pieters was organist and soloist was Henry Vanderzyden. Pallbearers were Jeff Betten, John Betten, Dick Werkman, Jr., Scott Williams, David Bartling, and Marvin Werkman. Interment was in St. Peter's United Church of Christ Cemetery, Wellsburg. The Brandt-Fritz Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Janet Williams Snittjer was born March 28, 1919 at Ash Creek, Minn., the daughter of Walbert and Johanna Lindaman Boelman.

On June 16, 1939 she was united in marriage to Russell Williams, who preceded her in death on December 24, 1954. To this union three children were born. On September 18, 1961, she was united in marriage to Herman Snittjer.

She was preceded in death by her first husband; a granddaughter, Karla Ann Bartling; two brothers, Walbert and George; and two sisters, Mrs. Harm (Minnie) Grimmius and Mrs. Dick (Anna) Werkman.

She is survived by her children, Larry Dean Williams of Steamboat Rock; Mrs. George (Lois Faye) Bartling of Sheridan, Illinois, and Mrs. Bernard (Sandra Lou) Betten of Steamboat Rock; five grandsons and one granddaughter; two brothers, Arnold of Morrison, and Bill of Marshalltown; and four sisters, Mrs. Johannes (Tillie) Miller and Mrs. Lester (Fannie) Williams, both residents of the Presbyterian Home in Ackley, Mrs. Henry (Hanna) Finger and Mrs. Melvin (Bertha) Meints of Ackley.
