Mrs. John Ruiter

Mrs. John Ruiter, nee Friedericka Duesing, was born on the 28th of Sept. 1827, at Stumpens, Oldenburg, Germany. After being married to Harriben Hillers she came with him to America, settling at Dixon, Ill. Here she lost her husband by death. The only child born to her had been buried in Germany. In 1870 she married John Ruiter. Soon afterwards they moved to Grundy county, this state. About ten years ago this second husband also died, leaving her a childless widow. The last seven years of her life she spent in Aplington. Always of a sunny disposition and untroubled with sickness she was an inspiration to young and old until the Lord called her away from this life last Friday, Oct. 26, 1917, at the age of 90 years and 28 days. No immediate relatives survive her. A short funeral service was held last Monday at the home by Rev. G. Schnucker. Interment took place at the St. Petri cemetery southwest of Aplington, Rev. Mueller preaching the funeral sermon. Mrs. Ruiter was a devoted Christian woman with a warm heart and an open hand for the Lord's cause.
