Paul Greiner, 96

Paul Greiner, 96, of Reinbeck, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 1999 at the Parkview Manor in Reinbeck, where he was admitted on February 8.

Funeral services were held Friday, April 2, at 10 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic church, Grundy Center. Rev. Douglas Loecke officiated. Burial was in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Reinbeck.

Paul Anthony Greiner was born December 1, 1902 at Richland, IA. He was the son of George and Margaret Bohrofen Greiner. Paul moved to Canada at the age of two, where he received his education. Paul's family moved to Charles City in 1924.

He was united into marriage to Miss Magdalen Reis of Rooseville, IA in 1930. Paul and Mag lived at Floyd Crossing until 1935, when they moved to the Dinsdale area. Paul and his brother Joe farmed together until 1948. Paul then moved his family to a farm south of Reinbeck, where he retired in 1963. He moved to his present address in 1985. Paul and Mag spent their summers at Leech Lake, MN at the Big Rock Resort. During the winters they made their home in Clearwater, FL.

He was a member of the Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus in Waterloo.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a daughter, Mary Louise; three brothers; and three sisters.

Surviving are his wife, Magdalen of Reinbeck; five children, Robert Greiner of Baudette, MN, Russell Greiner of Reinbeck, Carol Sedlmayr of Guttenberg, Berniece Blong of Asheville, NC, and Kenneth (Bud) Greiner of Reinbeck; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond of Cedar Falls and Leonard of Iowa Falls; two sisters, Dorothy Pitts of Toronto, Canada and Catherine Gerhard of Charles City; and more distant relatives.

Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, was in charge of the arrangements.
