M. M. Sleight Dead

The Aplington News in the Eclipse says "This community was shocked Monday evening to learn of the serious illness of M. M. Sleight. He had not been feeling very well and had been to the doctor for medicine. At the elevator he lifted a sack of grain and was suddenly attacked with hemorrhage from the stomach. The bleeding was very bad and he grew steadily worse till yesterday afternoon when death came. Mr. Sleight was a man thirty-six years of age and an extremely stout, hearty looking man. He was a man who had lots of friends, and a gloom has settled over the community, our people uniting to extend sympathy to the bereaved wife and children. Mr. Sleight, from the first, had no hope of his recovery, and made all arrangements for funeral services, also making a will of his property. The funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Wiesele at the house, and by Rev. DeWeerdt at Buck Grove church, where the burial will take place. The services will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday."
