Lily Mae Minium, 89, died January 15, 2004 of heart failure at Silvercrest Assisted Living of Ames, IA. She was born in Wellsburg, IA on February 24, 1914. She married Howard Minium on May 30, 1939.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church in Ames, IA and at 2 p.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church west of Wellsburg, IA. Interment will be in the church cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 18, from 2:30 until 4 p.m. at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Lily Mae loved to learn and loved to teach. She taught second graders near Grand Junction, IA, her home until her retirement. After moving to Ames, she tutored elementary students, international students and children at Beloit Children's Home. She was a member, elder and deacon at Northminster Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her children, Bea (Jim) Hoekstra of Ames, Sarah (Mark) Dimond of Minot, ND, and Francie (Don) Martin of Clarinda; grandchildren, Steve and Tim Hoekstra, Amy, Rex and Laurie Dimond and Luke Martin; and great-granddaughter, Lily Dimond. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, Berend (Ben) and Hilka (Helen) Primus, her half-sister and seven brothers.

Memorial contributions may be made to Northminster Presbyterian Church in Ames. Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames is handling arrangements.
