Miles Wayne Boike, 88, of Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Graveside services were held Monday, Nov. 18, at the Melrose Cemetery, rural Whitten with Rev. Rick Schill officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Union Library.

Miles was born March 20, 1914, at Eldora to Herman and Alta Essig Boike. He graduated from Eldora High School and continued his education at a business college in Chillicothe, Mo. He married Orpha Kensinger in November 1937, in Springfield, Mo. He farmed most of his life in the Eldora area and had worked at Lennox Industries in Marshalltown for 24 years.

He is survived by two sons, Roger Boike and wife Pat of Dallas, Texas, and Douglas Boike of Webster City; two grandchildren, Eric Boike of Eldora and Leah Low of Des Moines; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean, in 1996; one sister, Gail Peterson; and one brother, Duane Boike.

Biersborn Funeral Home of Union was in charge of arrangements.
