Mr. J. C. Calloway died after a long and serious illness at his home in Melrose last Saturday at 2 p.m. The funeral was held at the Melrose M.E. Chapel Monday 2 p.m. Conducted by Rev. E. Behart of Union assisted by Rev. Sanford of Whitten. He was 55 years old born in England in 1833, came to N.Y. in 1844 and to Grundy co. in 1867. He has been a very useful man in this community. The very large number present at the funeral is evidence of the high esteem in which he was held. He has been a useful member of the M.E. Church for a number of years. Mrs. Calloway and family have the deepest sympathy of the community.
