Mrs. Herman Boike
Funeral services for Mrs. Herman Boike were held at the Methodist church in Eldora Friday afternoon. Rev. W. R. Ehlert was the officiating pastor. Burial was in the Melrose cemetery.
Mrs. Boike's maiden name was Alta Oril Essig. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Essig. She was born on a Melrose township farm January 2, 1888, and she spent all of her life there. She was married to Herman Boike on Dec. 21, 1908. The couple began housekeeping on a farm adjoining the Essig home place and resided there continually. Mrs. Boike was afflicted with diabetes and her health had failed several years. Her condition became serious on October 4th when she was taken to the Eldora hospital where she died on Oct. 16.
Surviving are the husband; two sons, Miles, Fort Dodge, and Duane, who is at home; one daughter, Mrs. Gail Petersen of Boone, Iowa.
