Carrie Irene Eiklenborg, age 93, of Dike, Iowa, was born the daughter of Jake and Marie (Miller) Peters on July 12, 1923, in rural Grundy County, Holland, Iowa. She received her education from Beaver Township School #5 near her home. After her schooling, Carrie worked at Hinsen Manufacturing.

On January 11, 1946, Carrie was united in marriage with Harvey Charles Eiklenborg at the Reformed Church of Stout, in Stout, Iowa. After their marriage they lived on a farm near Cedar Falls, Iowa, for a year and then moved to a farm south of Dike, Iowa. In 1948, they moved to their present farm. Carrie was a loving wife and mother who worked alongside Harvey with the farming and had also worked at Plastronics in Grundy Center and later at Waterloo Register Company.

Carrie was a life-long member of Reformed Church of Stout. She was a great cook and baker and was known for her delicious chocolate chip cookies and apple pie. Carrie enjoyed quilting and sewing for her family and working in her garden.

Carrie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 30, 2016, Parkview Manor Care Center, in Reinbeck, Iowa from dementia. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carrie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Harvey Eiklenborg; one son, Kenny Eiklenborg and his special friend, Linda Meyer of Cedar Falls; one daughter, Beverly (Tom) Becker of Cumming, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Chris (Renee) Becker, Kent (Laura) Eiklenborg, Kim (Kenny) Obrien, Todd (Melia) Eiklenborg, Brad (Sarah) Eiklenborg, Anne (Brian) Varney and Beth (Ryan) Petersen; 22 great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Esther Meyer of Grundy Center; and two brothers, John Peters of Cedar Falls and Harvey Peters of Parkersburg.

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at the Reformed Church of Stout, with burial in the Stout Cemetery, both in Stout, Iowa.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, and one hour before services at the church.
