Calvin Clauson Services Held

Calvin J. Clauson passed away Tuesday, August 23, 1983 at Sartori Memorial Hospital in Cedar Falls. He had suffered a heart attack on Friday, August 19 and later suffered a stroke. He reached the age of 77 years, 8 months and 30 days.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 25 in the Reformed Church of Stout with Pastor Donald Ringnalda officiating. Organist was Elaine Schnell. Craig DeBerg sang "Precious Lord Take My Hand" and "He Giveth More Grace." The congregation sang "Blessed Assurance."

Casket bearers were John Konken, Harvey Eiklenborg, Henry Bolhuis, Samuel Schmitt, Harold Rademaker and Calvin Heyenga. Interment followed in the Stout cemetery.

Calvin was born the son of Jacob and Mary Zindler Clauson on November 24, 1905 in Peoria, IL. He attended school in Illinois, Grundy County rural schools, south of Aplington and south of Stout, first two years of high school in Stout and graduated from Pleasant Prairie Academic in German Valley, IL.

On February 18, 1931 he was united in marriage to Anna W. Dilger in Aplington by his grandfather, Rev. Zindler. This union was blessed with one son, Donald. They farmed northwest of Dike until retiring in 1967 when they moved to their present home in Stout.

Calvin was an active member of the Reformed Church of Stout where he served as an elder, teacher, singing in the men's quartet and church treasurer for 19 years.

Calvin is survived by his son, Donald and his wife, Wilma Clauson of Spirit Lake; and three grandchildren, David, Judi and Kathy Clauson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Anna, who died January 28, 1976.

Schwartz-Engelkes Funeral Home of Parkersburg was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
