William J. Andreessen Services Held Tuesday
William J. Andreessen, 502 6th Street, Parkersburg, IA, died from an apparent heart attack at 6:55 p.m. Tuesday, December 14, 1982 in Sartori Hospital in Cedar Falls. He reached the age of 75 years, 11 months and 26 days.
William had been in failing health the past several months.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 1982, in the Reformed Church of Stout, with Pastor Don Ringnalda officiating. Mrs. Elaine Schnell was the organist with Janet Johnson and Marcia Allspach singing special music. Casketbearers were Harold and Harvey Eiklenborg, Charles Juel, Roy and Harry Andreessen and Delbert Arends.
Interment followed in the Stout Cemetery.
William was born the son of Henry and Eskie Froelrichs Andreessen on December 18, 1906, in Beaver Township, Grundy County, Iowa. He graduated from the Parkersburg high school.
On June 10, 1936 he was united in marriage to Emma Meester in Stout, IA. Emma died on September 23, 1958. This union was blessed with two sons, Lowell and LaVerne Andreessen.
He was married to Bertha Janssen on May 24, 1961 in the Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg.
He was employed as a milk and cream hauler for 26 years and also did some farming, retiring in 1972. In March of 1980 he moved to his present home in Parkersburg.
He is survived by his two sons, Lowell Andreessen, New Lisben, WI; and LaVerne Andreessen of Waverly, IA; one step-daughter, Shirley, Mrs. Larry Spain, Godfrey, IL; one step-son, Vernon Janssen of Petersburg, IL; 3 grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren; also one sister, Mrs. Grace Arends of Grundy Center; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Alice Andreessen of Dike and Mrs. Mary Andreessen of Cedar Falls. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Emma; four brothers and three sisters.
