Mrs. Ralph DeVries Died Saturday After A Long Illness

Mrs. Ralph DeVries died at her home in Stout last Saturday following an illness of several months during which time she was confined to her home continually. A general decline due to advanced age was the cause of her death. She was 81 years, 2 months and 16 days old.

Funeral services were held at the home at one o'clock Tuesday afternoon and later at the Reformed church of Stout, of which Mrs. DeVries and her husband became members in 1913.

Obituary
Mrs. Mina DeVries (nee DeVries) was born July 16, 1856, in Eastfriesland, Germany. When 10 years old she came with her parents to the United States, settling near German Valley, Ill., where the family continued to live for 10 years. She then came with her mother and brother Ippe to Beaver township, Grundy county, Iowa.

In 1876 she was united in marriage to Ralph DeVries. To this union were born four sons and three daughters.

In 1913 the family retired from farming and moved to Stout.

The deceased was preceded in death by her son John in 1903; her husband in 1914; and a daughter, Fannie, (Mrs. J. J. Meyer) in 1924.
