John E. Meester Died Sunday

John E. Meester, 86, died Sunday afternoon, October 26, at his home in Pleasant Valley township, Grundy county, from complications due to age.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday afternoon at the Stout Reformed Church with burial in the Stout cemetery. Rev. Paul Tanis officiated.

The Engelkes Funeral Home in Parkersburg was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Meester was born April 14, 1883 in Pleasant Valley township. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Meester. On February 19, 1919 he was married to Mrs. Sophia Christians. The Meesters lived on the same farm in Pleasant Valley township for the past 50 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1955, one step-daughter, Nellie Christians, in 1967, his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

Surviving are one daughter, Ann (Mrs. Paul Aswegen) of Parkersburg, one stepson, Dick Christians of Parkersburg, and two brothers, Andrew and Harry Meester of Holland, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
