Mrs. Huisman, 86, Dies Thursday In Waterloo Hospital
Funeral services for Mrs. Ettje Huisman, 86, were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Doyen Funeral Home and at 1:30 in the Wellsburg Reformed Church, Rev. George Poppen officiating.
Burial was in the Holland cemetery beside her husband.
Music for the service was provided by the men's quartet composed of Irwin Abels, Elmer Finke, Harold Lindaman and Eugene Ruter. Organist was Miss Marcella Neessen.
Casketbearers were Benjamin VanDeest, Theodore VanDeest, James VanDeest, Keith Huisman, Edward Christians, and Truman Schulte.
Mrs. Elmer Fritzel and Mrs. Ralph Huisman served as flower attendants.
Mrs. Ettje Huisman, nee Ettje Kruger, was born August 27, 1875 at Aurich, Germany, daughter of Andrew and Dena Kruger.
She passed away last Thursday afternoon at the Allen Memorial Hospital. Death was due to a kidney ailment. At the time of her death she had reached the age of 86 years, 2 months and 29 days.
On July 4, 1898 she was married to Mr. Thile Huisman and they lived together in Holland and after a few years moved to Wellsburg. Her husband passed away in October 7, 1924, and was buried in the Holland cemetery.
Those who preceded her in death were her parents, two brothers and one sister, her husband and one son and one daughter and one infant daughter, also 4 grandchildren.
Those who mourn her leaving are: Andrew Kruger of Des Moines; Bryan Huisman of Wellsburg, Elizabeth, Mrs. Joe Dimke of Wellsburg, Harm Huisman of Buffalo Center, Tyle Huisman of Wellsburg and Esther, Mrs. William VanDeest of Grundy Center. There are 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
