Rites Monday For Rose Harken

Final rites for Mrs. Rose Harken, who passed away Saturday morning at Allen Memorial hospital, were held Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the West Friesland Presbyterian Church with Rev. Kenneth Remer officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.

Rose Harken was born August 11, 1891, in Groningen, Netherlands, the daughter of Theodore and Cora Swede Stubbe. She came to America when only 3 years old with her parents, brothers and sisters. They settled northeast of Parkersburg. Two years later the father of the family passed away.

On September 29, 1914, she married Isbrant R. Harken. She had been a member of the West Friesland Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She lived her entire life around the Ackley, Aplington area.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, six brothers, her husband Isbrant and two sons, Theodore and Andrew.

Surviving her are her son Raymond Harken, her daughter, Mrs. Laurence (Carolyn) Hartema, both of Aplington, five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
