Married One Wednesday; Buried The Next

Christian Becker of German Township has Short Wedded Life

Christian Becker, a German township farmer was married a week ago yesterday and just a week later his remains were taken to the cemetery in Pleasant Valley township.

The cause of the sudden death was brought on by blood poisoning. Mr. Becker returned from a trip to his old home in Germany only a few weeks ago. While over there he scratched one of his arms on a fence. The wound was but slight and little attention was paid to it though it pained him some before he left on his homeward trip. While on the water the injury seemed to be entirely healed but it broke out again when he reached home and it kept getting continually worse. He called in a doctor last Saturday but at that time the poison had well permeated his system and it was impossible for medical assistance to give any relief.

Mr. Becker's bride of a week came with him from the old country a few weeks ago. She was Mrs. Elizabeth Ebele. A grown daughter came over with her and it is their intention to return as soon as they have their business affairs adjusted.

Mr. Becker was twice married. His first wife Mrs. Mueller died about three years ago. She left 120 acres of German township land to her husband from which he was to receive the income until his death and after that the property was to revert to her two sons Dick and Christ. The deceased owned no other real estate at his death, but he has personal property estimated to be worth from six to eight thousand dollars which will go to his wife.

The deceased was 56 years old and was a long time resident of northwest Grundy.
