Obituary August Asher

August Asher was born in Luppon, Germany, in 1855. He came to this country in 1873 and located at Freeport, Ill., where he remained until thirty-five years ago when he and his family came to Grundy county. They moved on a farm in Shiloh township where Mr. Asher lived up to the time of his death which took place at the home where he died September 24th. Mr. Asher had been in poor health for most of the past year. His death was the result of heart and kidney trouble. The funeral was at the Shiloh township Lutheran church on Tuesday and it was very largely attended.

Mr. Asher was the father of seven children, six of whom together with the mother are still living. The children are Mrs. Wessel Jutting of Buffalo Center, August Asher and Mrs. Henry Olthoff of Shiloh township, Mrs. James Dekker of Elrod, South Dakota, Mrs. Olmke Harrenstein and Henry Asher of this county. All of the children were present at the funeral. Others from a distance who attend the funeral were, Mrs. Henry Meyer from Pearl City, Ill., Simon Asher from Hazzel, S.D., Mrs. Eikmeyer, Mrs. Will Itzen, Mrs. Petersen from Ackley, Mr. and Ms. Henry Geerdes, John Luiken and wife and Will Asher and wife from Steamboat Rock.
