Mrs. L. G. Bakker Dies at Hospital

Mrs. L. G. Bakker died at the Deaconess hospital in Marshalltown on the night of July 4th. She had suffered a stroke of paralysis a month ago. Ten days before her death she was taken to the hospital for care and treatment. A second stroke followed shortly before the end came.

Resided in County All of Her Life
Mrs. Bakker was 59 years old on the 6th of April. Her maiden name was Grace Ross. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Evert Ross. She was born in Shiloh township, Grundy county, April 6, 1888. She resided in Grundy county all of her life. She was married to L. G. Bakker in 1907. The couple resided on a farm in Shiloh township until they moved to their farm seven miles west of Grundy Center. Mrs. Bakker was a member of the First Christian Reformed church west of Wellsburg, and a regular attendant during the greater part of her lifetime.

Funeral service were held at the home Monday afternoon and later at the First Christian Reformed church. Burial was in the cemetery adjoining the church. The services were conducted by Rev. J. N. VandeKieft.

Casket bearers were nephews of Mrs. Bakker. They were Gerald and Gerrit J. Bakker, Evert Heikens, Evert Mudderman, Edward Miller and Charles Meints.

Surviving are the husband and four sons. The sons are Menne and George, both of whom are married and live in this locality. Will and Evert are at home. There is one grandson. Her daughter Luella preceded her in death at an early age.

Other surviving relatives are three brothers and six sisters. The brothers are Evert, Will and Albert Ross. Her sisters are Mrs. John G. Bakker, Mrs. Heiko Miller, Mrs.Ebe H. Harms, Mrs. Ebbo Heikens, Mrs. John Miller of Dike, and Mrs. W. W. Riekena. One sister, Mrs. Wm. Mudderman, preceded her in death.
