Mrs. Griffith Dead

Mrs. Theresa Emeline Griffith, 73, died early today at 534 Wallgate street, Waterloo, where she had resided 10 months. The services are not definitely arranged, but interment will be in Fairfield cemetery, near New Hartford.

Mrs. S. W. Griffith

Funeral services for Mrs. S. W. Griffith, 73, who died Friday at her home, 524 Wallgate avenue, were conducted Sunday at New Hartford, Ia. Burial was in Fairfield cemetery at New Hartford.

Theresa Emmaline Hurlbut was born Feb. 5, 1854, in Waushara county, Wisconsin. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1861, making the trip to Grundy county where they settled, in a covered wagon.

She was married in October 1875, to George Ferris, who was killed Feb. 22, 1876, in a runaway. She taught school for nine years and on March 19, 1885, was married to S. W. Griffith. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1924. They resided on a farm near New Hartford until nine years ago. Mrs. Griffith came to Waterloo April 1, 1927.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. F. I. Huntley and Mrs. Sherman Swem, both of Downers Grove, Ill., Charles Griffith and J. H. Griffith, both residing at 203 Bluff street and Mrs. Clyde Case, Waterloo; 21 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
