H. G. Doyen passed away at his home in Wellsburg on Wednesday, Nov. 20th after an illness of several months. The funeral services were conducted at the German Reform church Sunday afternoon by Rev. Theilken. Mr. Doyen was born Dec. 31st, 1841, at West Grossefehn Ostfriesland, Germany. He came to America in 1867 residing in the vicinity of Ackley until 1876 when removed to Alden, Iowa, and from there to Wellsburg in 1885. For the past six or eight years he has been engaged in the restaurant business at this place. He has been failing in health for more than a year. He leaves one daughter, Miss Maggie Doyen and one son Geo. H. Doyen, also a brother, J. C. Doyen, of this place.
