Obituary of Charles Severance

Charles Severance was born in Greenfield, Franklin County, Mass., Sept. 30, 1838, and died on the old home place near Grundy Center, Jan. 4, 1904, in his 66th year.

In April 1856, he came with his mother, brother and sister to Grundy Center, Iowa. May 28, 1880, he was united in marriage to Miss Libby Robson. To this union, two daughters, Gertrude and Bertha and one son Frank were born.

He spent his entire life on the old home place. About four years ago he was injured by falling from a load of hay and never recovered from the effects of the injury. He went to Colfax Nov. 26, for the benefit he hoped to derive from the springs and was there three weeks. Since Dec. 24 he has been confined to the house.

He is survived by his wife and two children and one brother who were all present at the funeral.

He was a good husband, a kind father and an excellent citizen, highly respected by all who knew him.

The funeral was held at the Baptist church Wednesday at 2 p.m. conducted by Rev. McMasters.
