The Death of Frank Snavely

Frank Bernard Snavely died last Sunday night about 8:45. He was operated on the preceding Tuesday for appendicitis from which trouble he had been suffering for over a year. The operation was performed as the only hope of relieving the trouble and he stood it well. At first it was thought he would rapidly recover but on Saturday he became worse and gradually sank until Sunday evening he passed away. He was 21 years old December 1st, 1903. At the time he was last taken sick he was attending Coe College.

The funeral service was held at the residence of H. K. Snavely Wednesday afternoon conducted by Rev. G. H. Kennedy assisted by Rev. McKim, former pastor of the deceased, attended by a large number of friends. Frank was a bright young man of considerable ability, a quick student, and a graduate of our high school. When in school he always stood high in his classes and in the estimation of his teachers. He had many friends and one of the best things that can be said about any young man can be said about him. He was always thoughtful and considerate of his parents. The family have the sympathy of the entire community, and many letters of sympathy have been received by his parents from those who were acquainted with him intimately.

Among those at the funeral from abroad were John Snavely, North Liberty, Iowa; Henry McNeely, Marshalltown; Miss Clara Gilliland, Sioux City; Fred P. Snavely, Ironwood, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard H. Devoe, Cedar Rapids; Miss Emma Stover, Conrad; Rev. S. T. McKim, Traer.
