Obituary of Mrs. Hasbrouck

Viola Eliza Carr was born at Blacbrook, Vermont, March 12th, 1854, and passed away at the St. Francis hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, August 12th, 1919, of ether pneumonia following an operation for goitre.

When a child she came with her parents to Lena, Illinois, moving also with them from there in 1869 to Steamboat Rock, Iowa. In March, 1873, she was united in marriage to Daniel Hasbrouck going with him to Grundy Center, this place being her home until her death.

In July, 1899, she was united in marriage to Ed. Hasbrouck.

Surviving are the husband, two children, Earnest Hasbrouck of Lincoln township, and Mrs. Glenn Shearer of this city, ten step-children, Mrs. Wald of Lake Park; Lizzie Neebly of Fletcher, Idaho; Mrs. George Hodge of Oelwein, Iowa; Mrs. Chas. Hodge of Harmony, Minn.; Ike, Albert, Earl, Arthur and Jim Hasbrouck of Grundy Center, and Harry Hasbrouck of Goldfield, Iowa; also three sisters, Mrs. Will Mertz of Grundy Center, Mrs. Cass, Merriman, Nebraska, and Mrs. Lacky, Berkley, Wash., also six grandchildren.

She was a member of the First Baptist church of this place, from which place the funeral was held, the service being conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. C. Curry, Friday afternoon.

Mrs. Hasbrouck was one of those quiet, untiring women, loving her home almost to a fault, ever planning and toiling to make it a place of comfort and pleasure for those whom she loved.

Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Hasbrouck, Mrs. F. W. Clark, Mr. and Mrs. J. Heath, Frank Hasbrouck, Mrs. Robert Page and daughter and Mr. Sam King, all of Waterloo, Mrs. C. F. Mohlman and daughter, Mrs. Bessie Larson and Chas. Mertz of Marshalltown, Harold Mertz of Fort Dodge, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hasbrouck, Mrs. J. Shirk, Mr. and Mrs. Will Wald of Goldfield, Mrs. H. Campbell and daughter and Mrs. E. Harris of Steamboat Rock and Mrs. Mary Seabury of Union, Iowa.
