Mrs. James Elliott, wife of J. T. Elliott, passed away at her home in Morrison at 5:30 p.m., Sunday evening, March 19th, 1922, after a lingering illness of tumerous cancer.
Lulu Stuck was born in Ellsworth county, Kansas, in January, 1879 and came to Grundy county in 1881. She was united in marriage to James Elliott in December, 1896, living in Cedar Falls for a few months, then moving to Morrison, which place has been their home since.
Mrs. Elliott went to the hospital at Iowa City in January, remaining there for five weeks, but received no relief, so she came home and failed very rapidly.
Mrs. Elliott was a very patient sufferer during her illness, realizing the end was near, and she enjoyed sweet communion with her God during her last few days of suffering.
Mrs. Elliott was a devoted mother to her home and family. She leaves to mourn her departure her husband and six children, whose names are Omar, whose whereabouts are unknown; Allen, Paul, Mary, Virginia and baby Donabelle; her father, A. B. Stuck and one sister, Mrs. Eathan Roberts of Dike. One baby, Arthur Adolphus, died in 1900, aged two years.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, Rev. Alexander of Grundy Center officiating. Interment was in the Grundy cemetery.
Relatives who attended the funeral from out of town were--Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Haynes and son; Mr. and Mrs. John Meisner and two children, W. A. Elliott, Harry, Mary and Thelma Elliott, of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Elliott of Gladbrook; Miss Ruth Elliott, Mr. and Mrs. John Clift, Mrs. Hattie Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. John Woodmency and Mr. and Mrs. Leu Stuck of Grundy Center.
