Henrietta Niehaus, 94, of Grundy Center, died April 28 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. May 6 at Bethany Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
Henrietta was born July 30, 1908, in rural Grundy County, the daughter of Charles H. and June (Bakker) Petersen. She graduated from Grundy Center High School in 1926 and then the Junior College in Grundy Center. She then graduated from the University of Dubuque. On December 25, 1931, Henrietta was united in marriage to Casper Niehaus in Grundy Center. She taught in a rural school for two years early in their marriage. They farmed for 41 years in Lincoln Township northeast of Grundy Center.
Henrietta was a member of Presbyterian Church in Grundy Center, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was also active in the United Presbyterian Women's Organization.
Survivors include a son, Don and his wife LaRae Wilhau Niehaus of Bayfield, WI; a daughter, Clarice and her husband Roger Stachour of Wayzata, MN; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Grace Maddux of Grundy Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Casper; her parents; a brother, Manne Petersen; and an infant daughter, Elaine Ruth.
