Marguerite Keiter, Librarian 33 Years, Died At Age 82
Miss Marguerite Keiter, 82, a lifetime resident of Grundy Center and librarian of the Grundy Center Public Library for 33 years, died March 26, 1975 at the Allen Memorial hospital in Waterloo. She had been transferred from the Grundy Memorial hospital two days before her death.
Memorial services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the First Baptist church with Rev. J. C. Ford officiating. Mrs. Jake Buskohl was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Strickler sang two duets "In the Garden" and "The Lights of Home." Interment was in the Grundy Center cemetery.
Marguerite was born December 29, 1892, in Grundy Center, Iowa, the daughter of Charles I. and Emma (Piper) Keiter. She lived her entire life in Grundy Center, and retired December 31, 1965 after serving as librarian 33 years. She was a member of the First Baptist church and a member of Chapter AR PEO.
Her survivors include one sister-in-law, Mrs. Frank Keiter of Kenoga Park, Calif. and the following nephews and nieces; Mrs. Lida Mertz and Eugene Plager, Grundy Center; Dr. Vernon Plager, Mrs. Edward Kemmerer, Mrs. Walter Robinson, all of Waterloo; Robert Keiter, Des Moines; Charles Keiter, Huntington Beach, Calif.; Mrs. Richard Butler, Woodland Hills, Calif.; Mrs. Ormal Bott, Corydon, Iowa; Mrs. Charles Marshall, Downers Grove, Ill.; Donald Rew, Des Moines, Iowa; Mrs. Junior Henderson, Russell, Iowa and Walter Rew, Springfield, Va.
The Ferree-Oltmann Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
