Maude Sheller Died Last Thurs.

Mrs. Maude Sheller, a longtime resident of Grundy county, died in the Grundy hospital Thursday following a heart attack. Since 1953 she had been a resident of Western Old Peoples Home at Cedar Falls. After she was stricken she was moved to the Grundy hospital three days before her death. She was 87 years old.

Funeral services were at 2:30 o'clock Saturday, October 28, at the Ferree Funeral Chapel in Grundy Center. The services were conducted by Rev. E. E. Basye, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Mrs. Sheller was born March 25, 1874. She was the daughter of Dr. Edwin and Laura Knapp Carpenter of Baileyville, Ill. She graduated from Mt. Morris College in Illinois and attended the University of Michigan and the Deaconess Training School in Chicago.

She moved to Grundy Center in 1899, where she made her home with an uncle, F. H. Knapp. In September of 1905 she was married to George M. Sheller of the Ivester community. They farmed there until 1939 when his ill health caused them to move to Grundy Center. He died in 1946.

Mrs. Sheller taught school in Grundy Center and Wyoming.

Survivors include four nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Carpenter and Mrs. Kate Schwarck of Grundy Center.
