Mrs. Joe Frikken Dies in Michigan

Mrs. Joe Frikken, a former resident of Grundy Center died in a hospital in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, January 27th. She had suffered a heart attack and she had been a hospital patient ten days before she died. She was 68 years old.

The body was sent to Grundy Center to the Ferree Funeral Chapel where services were held at one o'clock Tuesday. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. LeRoy Bauman, pastor of the Grundy Methodist church.

Pallbearers were Irvin Slater, Eldon and Herman Moeller and Roscoe, Harold and Ralph Jones.

Mrs. Frikken was born in the Netherlands, April 9th, 1886. She came to Grundy Center in her early youth. Her maiden name was Trentje Jurgens. On July 6, 1907 she was married in Grundy Center to Joseph Frikken. They resided in Grundy Center until 1936 when they moved to Roseville, Michigan.

Surviving are the husband from Roseville, a daughter, Mrs. Jennie Merrill, Roseville; three sons, Siemen, Tom and William, Roseville and a daughter, Mrs. Minnie DeVoogd, Fraser, Michigan. There are 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Other survivors are two brothers, Swier and Milo Jurgens of New York State; two sisters, Mrs. Angeline Bruins, Everett, Washington and Mrs. Mary Dekker of New York state. A daughter and an infant son preceded her in death.
