Isaac Hasbrouck Dies Suddenly Thursday Morning

Isaac F. Hasbrouck died suddenly early Thursday morning at his home a mile and a half southeast of Grundy Center. He was 66 years old. He had been afflicted with a heart ailment during the past year that compelled him to ease up from his many years of strenuous activity on the farm. After he got up Thursday morning he said he felt fine and was preparing to go out to help with the morning chores. He was in the washroom when he was suddenly stricken with a heart attack and sank to the floor and was dead when members of the family reached him within a moment.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. J. B. Bird, pastor of the Grundy Methodist church, were held at the home Saturday afternoon. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Obituary
On May 20, 1870, there was born, at Verona Mills, Mich., a little son to Daniel and Margaret Hasbrouck. They named their son after his grandfather Isaac. Now after two-thirds of a century this son died, on June 24, 1937. Between these two dates have passed 67 years, the length of life of your neighbor or friends.

He never had the privilege of knowing the mother who bore him--she died when he was very, very young. His grandmother became his mother. The family moved to Iowa about a year later, coming to Grundy county. Ike had an older sister, Lizzie, who died about six years ago. There also came later a half-brother and a half-sister, Ernest Hasbrouck and the late Mrs. Pat Shears.

Grown to manhood, Ike and Miss Viola Morrison were wedded, and established their home in this community. Three children came to this home. Eldin and Lucile together with their mother now pass through the bereavement of this parting. One child died in infancy.

Relatives from a distance who were here at the funeral were Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Morrison, Garner; Grace and Richard Berger and Blanche Smith from Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hyatt and son Hurly and daughter Edith from Waukesha, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Park from Waterloo.
